Cold Case Spotlight – Dana Solomon

On Sunday, November 12, 2006 just before 7:00pm Dana Solomon was struck by a vehicle while walking home from the Kangaroo Express convenience store on Normandy Blvd and Yellow Water Rd on the westside of Jacksonville, Florida. Investigators believe that Dana may have been hit by a small, dark colored, metallic truck which fled the scene. After fighting for her life for a week in the intensive care unit, Dana’s organ’s began to fail and she died on November 19, 2006.

Cold Case Spotlight – Ronald Courson

In September 2010 an unconscious Ronald Courson was found clinging to life in Jacksonville, Florida. He had been badly beaten, robbed and left for dead in his Permento Avenue home. After months in critical care, a rehabilitation facility and Hospice he succumbed to his injuries and died on December 27, 2010.

Cold Case Spotlight – Werner Oestreich

On January 6, 1992, in Las Vegas, Nevada,  Werner Oestreich was shot in the back of the head, while sitting in his car, by someone hiding in the back seat. Werner’s body was dumped from his car around 15th Street and St. Louis Avenue. Werner’s 1987 4-door Toyota Camry was found burned just a short time after the attack under the Charleston Boulevard underpass. Werner’s wallet was later discovered in a garbage can outside a Vegas grocery store.

Cold Case Spotlight – Tammy Platt

In the early morning hours of September 22, 2009, Tammy Platt was shot and killed while riding in a car driven by a friend in Jacksonville, Florida. Authorities arrested a man in possession of the gun used to kill Tammy soon after. That man was charged in a different crime but there was not enough evidence to charge him in Tammy’s death.

Cold Case Spotlight – Barry “BJ” Brooks Jr.

Nineteen year old Barry “BJ” Brooks Jr. and his girlfriend were walking from one apartment to another on November 18, 2007 in Jacksonville, FL when they were approached by two men in hoodies and robbed. As the suspects began harassing his girlfriend, BJ stepped up to defend her and was shot in the upper body. The bullet pierced an artery in his heart and he died at the hospital early the next day.

Cold Case Spotlight – Kimberly Simon

It has been almost 30 years since 16 year old Kimberly “Kim” Simon went for a walk from her home in Marcy, NY to meet a friend at Whitesboro Jr. High School. On September 18, 1985 Kim disappeared while taking that walk on Mohawk Street. Her body was found the next day in the dense woods not far from where she was last seen. Kim had been raped and strangled less than a mile from her house.

On July 19, 2013, Amber Bass was robbed and shot while walking up the sidewalk to her home in Jacksonville, Florida. She had just returned from an evening out with friends. An evening that began with laughter and fun and, with one selfish act, would end with countless lives changed forever.
